Critical bone defects are a serious problem due to their lack of self-healing capacity. They can arise as a result of ligament reconstruction, tumour resection and osteoporosis. Approximately 60,000 people a year are hospitalised in Poland because of cruciate ligament reconstruction, with a significant predominance of men aged 18-40 years.
Bioactive cancellous bone substitute is the first implant on the market developed for use in cruciate ligament reconstruction in the knee.
Our product stands out in the market by meeting the expectations of doctors as well as patients. Properties adjusted for healing process and an attractive price create a market adventage for our bone implant.
The bioactive bone substitute is characterised by a high degree of porosity and flexibility, thus creating a kind of ‘scaffold’ for the cells in the rebuilding bone.
An additional advantage of the implant is the possibility of embedding growth factors, which naturally support the bone regeneration process. Osteoinductive factors include platelet-rich plasma (PRP) taken from the operated patient, which ensures complete tissue compatibility and reduces the risk of inflammation.
During the procedure, the bone canals are drilled in a way, that the ligament to be inserted can be anchored. A solution for faster and safer bone reconstruction at the defect site is the insertion of a bioactive bone substitute.
The appropriate porosity and flexibility of the bioactive bone substitute allows the surgeon in the operating room to cut the implant to a size that matches the size of the bone defect.
Imbedding the implant with the pro-regenerative factors in the form of platelet-rich plasma taken from the patient accelerates the bone regeneration process, while minimising the risk of inflammation.
The implant, made on the basis of a biodegradable polymer, gradually fades into the body and is overbuilt with regenerated bone, significantly accelerating the patient’s recovery period.
